1. Introduction

This User Data Policy explains in detail what personal data RemoteBackend collects, how it is stored, processed, and protected, and your rights regarding your data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Identity data: name, username.
Contact data: email address.
Credential data: hashed password (we never store plain-text passwords).
Subscription data: plan, billing period, subscription status.
Progress data: lessons watched, tasks submitted, scores, certificates earned.
Communication data: support messages, chat history with AI assistant.
Device & log data: IP address, user-agent, access timestamps.

Your data is processed within the European Economic Area (EEA). Where third-party processors outside the EEA are used, we ensure appropriate safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions) are in place.

Account & progress data: retained for the lifetime of your account + 2 years after deletion.
Billing records: 7 years.
Log data: 90 days.
AI chat history: 30 days rolling.
Newsletter subscriber data: until you unsubscribe.

7. Your Rights Under GDPR

Right of access: request a copy of data we hold about you.
Right to rectification: correct inaccurate data.
Right to erasure: request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
Right to restriction: pause processing in certain circumstances.
Right to data portability: receive your data in a machine-readable format.
Right to object: object to processing based on legitimate interest.
Right to withdraw consent: withdraw newsletter consent at any time.

8. Automated Decision-Making

Our AI code review system automatically analyses submitted code and produces a score. This does not have legal or similarly significant effects — human review is available on request.

9. Children's Data

The Platform is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, please contact us immediately.

10. Complaints

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection supervisory authority in your jurisdiction.
